HYDE PARK HORSEMAN SUNDAY
In 1968, Ross Nye established Hyde Park Horsemen's Sunday, an annual service that takes place outside our local Church. The vicar is mounted on one of the stables' quieter horses, and a short non-denominational service allows us to give thanks for the special place horses have in our lives. Originally inspired by the annual Blessing of the Horses, that used to occur at Epsom Racecourse every year, the service helps to congregate horses and riders from Central London and beyond.
BOXING DAY RIDE
A really fun way to work off your Christmas lunch excesses! We meet at the stables at 10.30 for a conventional stirrup cup, before heading off on a two hour hack through Hyde Park to Buckingham Palace.
FANCY DRESS JUMPING
It's not about the jumps. More the fantastic paired costumes that our enthusiastic and imaginative riders manage to create! Over the years, we have had Robin Hood and Maid Marian (side-saddle of course), witches, swans, leopards, Red Indians and dragons!
EASTER & SUMMER RIDING HOLIDAYS
Remember that the ponies like to go on holiday too! Come and join them at Longfrey for as many days as you like - it is wonderful countryside to ride through, and great fun spending all day with your favourite horses. Look on our 'Riding Holiday' page.
BADMINTON HORSE TRIALS
Every year, we take a coach to the world famous Badminton Horse Trials for the cross-country day. Come along and watch the top competitors tackle the famous fences, and then relax with some retail therapy in the wonderful shopping village, where you can get everything you need for horse and rider.
PONY CLUB DAYS
We hold several Pony Club Activity Days throughout the course of the year, the biggest being on the Saturday at the beginning of May half-term. We hope that all the Pony Clubbers will be able to attend, and enjoy a whole day of grooming, riding, lessons, lectures, gymkhana games and jumping.
HYDE PARK SHOW
All our regular riders are encouraged to try their hand at competing in our very own show. This takes place in the large arena, opposite the Cavalry Barracks, on a Sunday in June. You will not recognise the horses, all plaited up and beautifully clean, and all the riders polished and tidy. Jumping classes, Best Rider and games - a fun day out, and it's like riding in a real Open Show.
TEAM GYMKHANA AT LONGFREY
From the very first year of the stables, Mr Nye has insisted on giving the horses a break in the countryside in August - and we all go for an afternoon of equestrian antics! All children welcome, with older and more experienced riders helping the smaller team members. We also award our annual Shields for improvement in Horsemanship and Sportsmanship.
